Be My Love
A Tribute to Mario Lanza

His recordings sold in their millions. His songs including Be My Love, Golden Days, Lovliest Night of the Year and I'll Walk with God, are still popular fifty years after his death. And his movies The Great Caruso, The Student Prince, Serenade, and That Midnight Kiss, to name but a few, became classics.  In a short career spanning only 10 years Mario Lanza became the biggest singing movie star of his generation. At the height of his career he even out-sold Elvis Presley. Join tenor Mark Gizzi-Schmidt along with Maestro Bill Doherty and the dazzling Central Florida Lyric Opera troupe of performers in this inspiring tribute to the great American tenor Mario Lanza and the music he sang.
Tosca

One of the most dramatic and thrilling operas ever written, Tosca takes place in Rome during the Napoleonic era. Its heroine, Floria Tosca, a famous opera star and legendary beauty, finds her happy life shattered and is forced to resort to violent measures to rescue her lover, Mario, who has been trapped in the web of the licentious Scarpia, the Chief of Police, who also desires her. Puccini's sensuous melodies and astounding conclusion atop the Castello San Angelo will leave you breathless. This special production sponsored by the International Opera Center of America features an international cast of performers including Italian soprano Anna Pirozzi as Floria Tosca, Swiss tenor Ottavio Palmieri as Mario Cavaradossi, and Italian baritone Lorenzo Battagion Baron Scarpia.
Amahl and the Night Visitors

Capture the true meaning of the holidays in this poignant yet light-hearted opera featuring glorious music, colorful costumes, amusing characters, and beautiful singing.  It's a heart-warming story of a crippled shepherd boy, his destitute mother, and their encounter with the three star-guided kings. A timeless and inspiring tale of how faith, charity, unselfish love and good deeds can work miracles.  Sung in English, Amahl and the Night Visitors appeals equally to both young and old, to opera aficionados and to first-time opera-goers. It is one of those rare theatrical masterpieces that engage adults as fully as children. Bring the whole family!
